Winter visitors

So the snow and ice that plagued the UK has largely come and gone and even though it was a total pain at times you couldn’t help but notice the beauty of it all, especially on the rare occasion that the sun also made an appearance. What you couldn’t also fail to notice was the usual influx of winter avian visitors too, noticeably the Redwings and Fieldfares from Scandinavia. Bet they didn’t expect to find the same conditions they thought they had left behind. Still that didn’t stop them stripping all the shrivelled fruit from the ornamental cherry trees outside the house which made for entertaining viewing. Now the snow has gone they seem to have moved on too, probably into the hedgerows to look for their next meal to fuel up for the return journey.
